Key of Hope Kidz Camp 2026
What is Kidz Camp?
At Key of Hope, we believe in reaching children on a deep and intimate level. Many of the children we serve carry deep burdens - from losing family members, to facing extreme poverty and trauma at home. Kidz Camp is our way of providing these children with an “escape,” where our staff spends the entire week pouring love into each child, reminding them how valued they truly are. We take them to the beautiful Drakensberg Mountains, away from the squalor of their daily lives
During their week at camp, we make sure that every child is taken care of - physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Along with having three meals a day, each camper receives everything they need for the week at camp that they would not otherwise have access to. We provide them with warm jackets, new shoes, a sleeping bag, and essential toiletries, like toothbrushes and toothpaste.
The week at camp is packed with fun activities, including water games, arts and crafts, sports, and our annual mountain hike! This really gives each child the opportunity to have fun and enjoy being a kid, free of the heavy responsibilities that they carry at home.
While the meals and activities are essential, the heart of Kidz Camp is spiritual restoration. Every day, the kids participate in a devotion where they learn Bible stories and can ask questions. Our ministry time in the evening is where these stories are applied to the children’s lives. Each child is given the opportunity to receive prayer and counsel.
A week of transformation
The transformation we see from Monday to Friday is truly like magic! The environment of love, support and safety gives the children space to open up. They find healing, and return home knowing that they are deeply loved by their Heavenly Father and that they are precious children of God.
Join this year’s Camp Team!
We are recruiting a team of young adults to serve as camp counselors at this year’s Kidz Camp in October. If you have a heart for ministry and a desire to serve children, this trip is for you! Here are some things you should know:
What the trip will look like:
This will be a 10-14 day trip, with arrival in South Africa on September 24th and departure on October 6th. The full 14-day trip includes travel days, weekend programs at Key of Hope, Home Visits, a full week of camp and a safari!
What Camp will look like:
We want you to be fully present with the kids. That’s why our full-time Key of Hope staff will plan and run the entire camp!
You won’t have to worry about logistics, scheduling or curriculum. Your mission is to simply be a counselor - play with the kids, get to know them, pray for them, and love them.
